Leonil (魔剣士レオネル, Makenshi Reoneru, Mage-swordsman Leonel), also known as Leonel, is an antagonist in Knights in the Nightmare. He is fought in Scene 25. Leonil is belligerent and selfish, caring only for himself and having zero regard for life. He worked in the 3rd Order as a subordinate of Capehorn.

Music

Leonil's battle theme is Clash with the Gladiator Leonil. A remaster of it is also found in Symphony of Souls under the name Madman's Duel.

Leonil can use three different swords, changing his tactics with each weapon. He starts with the greatsword.

Bullet Patterns

Greatsword

• Bullet I: Greed Slash: The golden blade lowers and swipes across the screen.
  • A giant blade that comes from the sky. Time -//24/ seconds x 1 shot.

• Bullet II: Ignition Edge: A tongue of flame that shoots homing fireballs.
  • Fire pillars erupt and shoot fireballs. Time -//18/ seconds x 6 shots.

• Special: Can block attacks, similar to Sentry.

• Rage: Two small fire-serpents scattering small bullets, then one small, then a huge one dropping magma debris.

Black katana

• Bullet I: Relentless Duel: An ellipsoid slash around the user.
  • A single mysterious blade appears. Time -//19.5/ seconds x 1 shot.

• Bullet II: Vortex Crescent: Spinning blades fly across the screen back and forth.
  • A sword that moves erratically. Time -//13.5/ seconds x 5 shots.

• Special: Can dash across the battlefield quickly, dodging out of range.

• Rage: Leonil stands in place and spins his blade, summoning spiraling serpents.

Red jagged sword

• Bullet I: Wandering Slash: The shape of Leonil's jagged sword is drawn on the screen.
  • A jagged blade that suddenly appears. Time -//30/ seconds x 1 shot.

• Bullet II: Fractal Misery:
  • Demonic light that splits as it moves. Time -//16.95/ seconds x 13 shots.

• Special: Leonil summons Sabres.

• Rage: Several lightning bolts strike across the screen, leaving small bullets that shoot out after some time. The lightning takes a draconic form and moves from place to place shooting out more static charges. After some time, several thunder strikes are called down at where the charges are.
